Terms of Service
Last updated: 18 October 2026
These terms cover RoamQuest at www.roamquest.app and its home-screen app. By using RoamQuest, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please stop using the service.
RoamQuest is operated by Jorben De Meerleer, established in Belgium. Questions about these terms or your account can be sent to roam.quest.app@gmail.com.
1. Your account and responsible use
Keep your sign-in details secure and provide accurate account information. Do not impersonate others, harass people, send spam, upload unlawful content, infringe someone else’s rights, or bypass privacy and security controls.
You are responsible for the content you submit. Only share material you own or have permission to use, and respect the privacy of people shown in your photos.
2. How RoamQuest uses data
RoamQuest uses account and profile information to sign you in and identify you; quest activity, XP, trophies, bucket items and journal entries to save your progress; and posts, photos, likes, comments, friendships and challenges to provide community features. Browser storage also keeps sign-in state, local progress and device preferences.
Optional location features use location information to suggest nearby quests or resolve a city and country for a quest post. Your chosen audience controls who can view a share; public posts may be viewed without an account. Turning off location sharing does not remove locations from previous posts.
Personal data is handled under the Privacy policy and applicable data protection law, not transferred into RoamQuest’s ownership by these terms. Permission to operate the service is not blanket consent for unrelated uses of your personal data.
Privacy policy3. Who owns quests and the app
RoamQuest’s branding, original app design and original quest text belong to the operator or their respective rights holders. Third-party materials remain subject to their owners’ rights and licences. AI-generated suggestions may not be unique or eligible for exclusive copyright protection.
You may use quests for your own adventures and share them through the app. Completing a quest or receiving a challenge does not transfer ownership of the quest text to you. You keep any rights you hold in original content you contribute.
XP, levels and trophies are in-app progress indicators, not money, transferable property or a promise of prizes.
4. Your photos, stories and shared content
You retain ownership of your photos, stories and other original contributions. Uploading them does not transfer copyright to RoamQuest.
You give RoamQuest a non-exclusive, royalty-free permission to store, copy, resize and display your content only as needed to run the service, sync your account and show shares to your chosen audience. Service providers may process it on RoamQuest’s behalf for those purposes. This permission does not authorise selling your photos or using them in unrelated advertising.
For content you remove, this permission ends when it is no longer needed for those purposes, except for limited backup, legal or security retention. A separately saved journal copy remains until you remove that copy too. Deleting a feed post does not delete its matching journal entry.
Other users do not receive ownership of your content merely by viewing it. However, people may take screenshots or save copies; RoamQuest cannot retrieve copies outside the service.
5. Travel safety and suggestions
Quests are suggestions, not professional travel, safety or environmental advice. Check local conditions, laws, permissions and your own abilities before taking part. Skip activities that feel unsafe, trespass, harm wildlife or put another person at risk.
AI-generated quests can be inaccurate or unsuitable. Sustainability and impact notes are general guidance, not verified measurements or environmental certifications. You do not need to complete a quest simply because it appears in your list.
6. Content removal and account access
The operator may remove content or restrict an account where reasonably necessary to address unlawful activity, violations of these terms, harm to others or security risks. Where practical and lawful, the operator will explain the reason. You can contact the operator to ask for a review.
You can stop using RoamQuest at any time. Signing out does not delete your account. There is currently no self-service account deletion or data export button; email roam.quest.app@gmail.com from your account’s email address to request a copy of your data or deletion. The operator aims to reply within 30 days, as described in the Privacy policy.
7. If RoamQuest changes or closes
RoamQuest is not guaranteed to run forever. Features may change or become unavailable, and the operator may stop running the service. Where reasonably possible, the operator will give advance notice through the app or your account email and explain how to request a copy of your data before closure. Sudden outages or circumstances outside the operator’s control may prevent advance notice.
Keep your own copies of photos and important travel stories. RoamQuest is not a permanent archive, and indefinite access, recovery or an automatic export is not guaranteed.
If the service closes, sign-in, synced progress and community access may stop working. Account data and hosted content will be deleted when no longer needed, subject to applicable legal obligations and limited backup or security retention. No fixed shutdown or backup-deletion schedule is currently promised; a closure notice will provide details where possible.
Closure does not transfer ownership of your photos or stories to the operator. Locally saved data and copies made by other people may remain outside the operator’s control. Your data protection rights continue to apply to personal data the operator still holds.
8. Availability, legal rights and changes
The operator cannot promise uninterrupted availability, error-free suggestions or that every user’s content is accurate. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limits your mandatory consumer or data protection rights.
These terms are governed by Belgian law, without removing mandatory protections or court rights that apply in your country of residence.
Updated terms will appear here with a revised date. Material changes will be brought to your attention where reasonably possible. If a change requires your consent under applicable law, posting it alone does not replace that consent.
